Turning everyday responsibilities into earned screen time
Tasks4Access is being built around a simple idea: screen time should be something children can earn through responsibility, rather than something parents constantly have to argue about.
For many families, phones, tablets, games and social media are now part of everyday life. Completely removing them isn’t always practical, but managing access can quickly become a daily battle. Tasks4Access aims to give parents a simpler alternative.
How Tasks4Access works
Parents create real-world tasks for their children, such as tidying their bedroom, completing homework, walking the dog or helping around the house. The parent chooses which apps are restricted and decides what completing the task will earn.
Create
Parent creates a task and chooses the apps to restrict.
Submit
The child completes the task and submits it for approval.
Review
The parent reviews it and approves it, or marks it “Needs More Work” with a short private note so the child can resubmit the same task.
Unlock
Approval unlocks the selected apps for the reward period chosen by the parent.
Instead of repeatedly telling a child to put their phone down, the rules and rewards are clear from the beginning.
Our aim
Tasks4Access isn’t about removing technology from children’s lives. Our aim is to help families create a healthier relationship between responsibility, rewards and screen time.
We want to build a tool that helps parents:
- Encourage children to complete everyday responsibilities
- Set clear expectations around screen time
- Reduce repeated arguments over phones, games and social media
- Reward completed tasks with something children genuinely value
- Decide which apps are restricted rather than simply blocking the entire device
- Keep parents in control of when rewards are actually granted
For children, Tasks4Access makes the arrangement equally clear: complete the task, send it for approval and earn your access. Tasks4Access is currently available for Android; iPhone/iOS support is planned but not yet available.
