Terms of Service

Effective and last updated: 16 September 2026

Quick summary

Tasks4Access is a family app-restriction and task-approval product: a parent creates a family account, adds a child, pairs the child’s device, and chooses which apps stay restricted on that device until a task is completed and approved. These terms explain who can use the service, how family accounts and roles work, what Android and iOS currently do and don’t guarantee, how subscriptions and billing work, acceptable use, and what happens if something goes wrong. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and why, and is incorporated into these terms by reference.

Who we are and how to contact us

Tasks4Access (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Tasks4Access mobile app and website (together, the “Service”). For any question about these terms, contact us at hello@tasks4access.com or via our Contact page. As stated in our Privacy Policy, we have not yet published a separate registered company name, company number, or registered postal address on this site; if and when that formal registration information is finalised, it will be added here and to our Privacy Policy.

Who may use Tasks4Access, and parental authority

Tasks4Access is intended for use by a parent or legal guardian to manage tasks, app access and screen time for their own child or children. By creating a family account, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child profile you add, or otherwise have the legal authority to manage that child’s device on their behalf, and that you are old enough in your jurisdiction to enter into a binding contract. A child does not independently agree to these terms, register their own account, or manage their own subscription — the parent who controls the family account is responsible for the child’s profile, the tasks and restrictions configured for them, and for deciding whether Tasks4Access is an appropriate tool for that child.

Family accounts and roles

A parent creates and controls the family account using their own name, email address and password, and is responsible for keeping those login details accurate and secure. A child does not have an independent login, email address or password of their own — their device is connected to the family account through a secure device-pairing process that only a parent can initiate, using a device-scoped session rather than a separate child email/password login. Where a family account has more than one parent (see “Subscriptions and billing” below for the parent limits attached to each plan), each parent on that account can independently manage tasks, approvals and restrictions for the family’s children, and each parent is responsible for their own conduct on the account. Where these terms refer to “you”, it means whichever of these roles applies to the reader; where the distinction matters, we say “parent” or “child” specifically.

The service: tasks, approvals, Needs More Work, and rewards

A parent creates tasks and chooses which apps on a paired child device are restricted until that task is completed. A child submits a task as complete, and a parent reviews it: approving it unlocks the associated apps (for a set reward period or on a more permanent basis, depending on how the parent configured it), while marking it “Needs More Work” instead sends it back with a short, private, task-specific explanation so the child can correct and resubmit the same task. Access to a restricted app is unlocked only once a parent approves the relevant task — Tasks4Access does not grant access automatically, and a parent’s decision to approve or send a task back for more work is final in the sense that we do not adjudicate disagreements between a parent and child about whether a task was completed satisfactorily. See our Privacy Policy for how long a “Needs More Work” explanation stays visible and when it is deleted.

Supported platforms, and what Android and iOS do and don’t guarantee

Tasks4Access supports both Android and iPhone (iOS). A parent and child can each use whichever platform their own device runs, and a single family can freely mix the two.

On Android, app restrictions are enforced using an Accessibility Service, a broad Android system permission that we use only to read the installed-app list and detect which app is currently in the foreground on a paired device, so the app can decide, on the device itself, whether to show a lock screen for a restricted app — see our Privacy Policy for the exact scope of what this service does and does not read. On iOS, app restrictions use Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls / Managed Settings) system, under which Apple deliberately prevents a third-party app like ours from seeing which real apps a person has chosen to restrict, and instead works with Apple’s own opaque, non-reversible tokens — again, see our Privacy Policy for the technical detail.

These mechanisms depend on operating-system APIs, permissions and behaviour that Google or Apple control, can change, and may limit or withdraw at any time, and that a device’s own settings, other installed software, or a sufficiently determined user may be able to disable, circumvent or interfere with. We do not guarantee that app restrictions cannot be bypassed, disabled, or affected by a device’s operating system, manufacturer customisations, battery-optimisation settings, or third-party software, and Tasks4Access is not a substitute for a parent’s own judgement and supervision. Tasks4Access does not restrict the phone or dialer app, and does not restrict any app you have not specifically chosen to restrict (including, for example, text messaging or location-sharing apps you have not added to a restricted list yourself).

Families using a mix of Android and iOS devices

A family can mix Android and iOS devices freely: for example, one parent on Android and a child on iPhone, a parent on iPhone and a child on Android, or any other combination. Each device enforces restrictions using whichever mechanism its own operating system provides (see above), and tasks and approvals stay in sync across both platforms through the same shared family account.

Device and account requirements

Using Tasks4Access requires a compatible device running a supported operating-system version, an active internet connection for pairing, syncing tasks and restrictions, and receiving push notifications, and (on Android) actively enabling the Accessibility Service permission after being shown an in-app, plain-language explanation of its scope. You are responsible for your own and your child’s device, its settings, and its connectivity; we are not responsible for a restriction failing to apply or a task failing to sync because of a device, network, or operating-system issue outside our control.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Tasks4Access, including: attempting to access, pair, or manage an account or device you are not authorised to manage; attempting to circumvent, disable, or interfere with another family’s restrictions or account; attempting to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or abuse the app, its Accessibility Service usage, its pairing mechanism, or its APIs beyond their intended use; submitting task content that is unlawful, abusive, or harassing; or using the service in any way that breaches applicable law. We may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate action, including suspension or termination as described below.

Security and your credentials

You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your login. Tell us promptly at hello@tasks4access.com if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation. See our Privacy Policy for how we store passwords and session tokens, and for the transient rate-limiting we apply to sign-in, pairing, and account-deletion requests to slow down abuse.

Subscriptions and billing

Current subscription pricing is published on our Pricing page: Standard is £9.99 per month for up to 2 parents on one family account, and Extended Family is £12.99 per month for up to 4 parents. Both plans include the same features and unlimited children; only the parent limit differs. Monthly billing is the currently available option. We do not currently offer a free trial.

Annual option coming soon. The annual prices shown on the Pricing page are a preview and cannot yet be purchased: £99.90 paid upfront for 12 months on Standard, or £129.90 paid upfront for 12 months on Extended Family. These amounts represent two months free compared with paying the current monthly price for 12 months. When annual billing becomes available, the payment and renewal terms presented at purchase will apply. Any pricing changes will be shown before they take effect.

How billing works today. Subscriptions are currently processed through Stripe’s secure hosted checkout and billing portal, opened from the app’s Account screen, not through Google Play Billing or Apple’s in-app purchase system. If Tasks4Access later becomes available for install through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, purchases made through that store may instead be billed and managed through that store’s own payment system, subject to that store’s own terms, and this section will be updated to reflect that at the time.

Renewals and cancellation. The current monthly subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Account → Manage subscription in the app, which opens Stripe’s secure billing portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal and access continues until the end of the period already paid for. When annual billing is offered, cancelling an annual subscription will stop its next annual renewal, with access continuing until the end of its paid year. Cancellation partway through a paid period does not by itself provide a prorated refund, except where required by law. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we give you a grace period to update your payment method through Manage subscription before access is affected. A child’s device is never permanently locked because of a billing issue; access to a task’s restricted apps depends only on that task’s own approval status, not directly on billing state, though creating new tasks and applying new restrictions requires an active, entitled subscription.

Upgrades and downgrades. You can switch between Standard and Extended Family at any time from the Account screen. Switching down to Standard is only possible while your family has 2 or fewer parents on the account; if it has more, you’ll need to remove parents first.

Taxes. Published prices are in GBP. Where applicable tax (such as VAT) must legally be added to the price you pay, Stripe’s checkout will show and collect it as part of your payment.

Refunds and your statutory rights. We do not currently promise a general right to a refund beyond what is described above or required by law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any statutory consumer right you may have under applicable law, including UK consumer protection law, that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — if any part of this section conflicts with such a right, that right takes priority. If you believe you’re entitled to a refund, contact us and we’ll consider your request.

Cancelling your subscription is separate from deleting your account

Cancelling a paid subscription (see above) only stops future billing — it does not delete your account, your family’s data, or your children’s task and device history. Deleting your account (see our Account deletion page) removes your Tasks4Access login and, where you are the only parent on your family, your family’s data, but does not automatically cancel an active paid subscription. Cancel your subscription first from Account → Manage subscription in the app, or contact us, so you are not charged after your account is deleted. Billing and payment history, and any referral or partner-commission records, are kept for financial record-keeping in a form that no longer identifies you personally, as described in our Privacy Policy and Account deletion page.

Intellectual property and your content

We own or license the Tasks4Access app, website, and their content, design and branding. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app and website for their intended purpose while you have an account in good standing. You keep ownership of the task descriptions, labels, child display names, and any other content you enter into the app, and you grant us a licence to store, process, and display that content back to your family’s own account solely to provide the Service. You are responsible for making sure any content you enter does not infringe someone else’s rights or break the law.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes what personal data we collect, why, our legal bases, how long we keep it, and your rights, and is incorporated into these terms by reference. By using Tasks4Access you agree to the data practices described there.

Partner Referral / Fundraising Programme

If you apply to, or are accepted into, our Partner Referral / Fundraising Programme, that relationship is governed by the separate Partner Agreement you accept when applying, not by these terms. These terms continue to apply to your own use of Tasks4Access as a parent, if you are also a parent user.

Third-party services and app stores

Tasks4Access relies on third-party services to operate, including Stripe for payments, Google/Firebase Cloud Messaging (and, for iOS delivery, Apple’s Push Notification service) for notifications, and our hosting provider for outbound account email — see our Privacy Policy for detail. If you download or update Tasks4Access through an app store such as the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, that store’s own terms of service also apply to your use of the store itself. We are not responsible for the availability, content, or conduct of third-party services we don’t control.

Communications

We’ll send you account and transactional communications relevant to your account (for example, verification, password reset, and billing notices) as part of providing the Service. Waitlist and marketing emails are sent only if you’ve opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time — see our Privacy Policy.

Service changes, availability, suspension and termination

Tasks4Access may update, change, or discontinue features (including features described on this website) from time to time. We don’t guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of the Service. You may stop using Tasks4Access at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these terms, misuse of the Service, or where we reasonably believe it’s necessary to protect the Service, other users, or ourselves; where practical, we’ll tell you why. Suspension or termination does not automatically cancel a paid subscription — cancel it separately as described above to stop future billing.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Tasks4Access is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, and app-restriction enforcement depends on third-party operating-system behaviour we don’t fully control, as described above. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations not expressly stated in these terms, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service, or for a restriction being bypassed, delayed, or not applied because of a device, operating-system, network, or third-party-service issue outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the law of England and Wales, consistent with our reliance on UK data protection law and our GBP pricing elsewhere on this site. As noted above, we have not yet published a registered company name or address; if you are a consumer, nothing in this section deprives you of any protection given to you by mandatory rules of the law of the country in which you are resident.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example as the product or our business practices change. The “Effective and last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Where a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify account holders, such as an in-app notice or an email.
